In class we have been working on a new kind of word problem.

Here is an example.

Tenni and Jason leave 15 comments on our blog. Tenni left 5 more comments than Jason.How many comments did Tenni leave?How many comments did Jason leave?








The answer is:

                    Tenni left 10 comments and Jason left 5 comments.




Write at least two of these new word problems for the class to solve. Make sure you include the answer!

    Megan had 10 packets of sweets to share with her friends and Erin had 7 packets of sweets to share, how many more packets did Megan have? How many packets did Megan and Erin have in total?



    Mr W had 4 cups of tea during the day, Mrs B had 3 cups of tea during the day and Mrs K had 5 cups of tea during the day.

    Who had the most cups of tea?

    How many cups did they have in total?

    Elizabeth and Ellie bought 30 water balloons and they needed to divide them equally how many would they each end up with?

    Each water balloon costs 5p how much did it cost them for 30 water balloons?

    Elizabeth bursts 8 water balloons, and Ellie bursts 12 how many water balloons were they left with?

    Evie and Ellie did handstands at gymnastics. Ellie did 35 handstands and Evie did 10 handstands.

    How many more handstands did Ellie do than Evie?
    How many handstands did they do in total?
    How many more handstands do they need to do to total 50?
